On the tee: at the Porsche European Open

Defending championJordan Smith will tee off with Major Champions Patrick ReedandCharl Schwartzelwhen the Porsche European Open begins on Thursday.

Smith beatAlex Levyin a play-off last season to win his first European Tour title and will begin his defence at 13:00 local time.

Reed and Schwartzel, who won the Masters Tournament in 2018 and 2011 respectively, will complete the three-ball at Green Eagle Golf Courses.

Levy, who won this event in 2016, tees off ten minutes earlier alongside European Ryder Cup CaptainThomas Bjørn andScott Jamieson.

Among the early starters isPaul Casey, making his first appearance in this tournament since 2006. The Englishman has been grouped with Spain'sAdrian Otaeguiand the United States'Bryson DeChambeau at 08:00.

Pat Perezarrives fresh from The 147th Open Championship to tee it up alongside fellow Open competitorZander Lombardand home favouriteMarcel Siemat 07:50.

Among the amateurs in the field isAlex Fitzpatrick,younger brother of four-time tour winner Matt. Fitzpatrick will tee off at 09:30 withPep AnglesandLuca Galliano.

Getting the tournament under way will be France'sClement Sordet,who tees off at 07:30 with Nicolas Colsaerts andChristiaan Bezuidenhout.
