On the tee: at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic

Danny Willett will begin the defence of his Omega Dubai Desert Classic title in the company of two-time winner in DubaiTiger Woods, and Ryder Cup teammate Matt Fitzpatrick.

The reigning Masters Champion posted back-to-back rounds of 65 on the way to his fourth European Tour title 12 months ago, finishing a shot clear of fellow Ryder Cup players Rafa Cabrera Bello and Andy Sullivan.

Willett will be joined by Woods, who is returning to the site of his victories in 2006 and 2008 for the first time since 2014. Making up the 08.15 threeball is Fitzpatrick, who won in Dubai at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship last November.

The 2016 Race to Dubai ChampionHenrik Stensonwill tee off ten minutes earlier alongsideSergio GarciaandTyrrell Hatton.

Stenson won at Emirates Golf Club in 2007 and will be eager to further improve his impressive record of six top tens in this event.

Ryder Cup teammate Garcia, whose last win came in the Middle East in Qatar three years ago, and Hatton, a runner-up the last time he played in Dubai, make up a group sure to attract plenty of attention.

Last week’s Commercial Bank Qatar Masters championJeunghun Wang will look to win in consecutive weeks for the second time in less than 12 months, with two-time Major winnerMartin Kaymerand Lee Westwood, a winner in Dubai back in 2009, completing the group off at 12.15.

Another of the early season winnersTommy Fleetwoodtees off ten minutes later alongside SullivanandCabrera Bello.

Ian Poulter, Thomas Pieters andGraeme McDowell should also draw early crowds when they begin at 07.55 from the tenth tee.
