On the tee: at the British Masters supported by Sky Sports

Alex Noren will kick-start the defence of his British Masters supported by Sky Sports title alongside tournament hostLee Westwood and reigning Masters Tournament championSergio Garcia.

Victory at The Grove last year was the third of Noren’s four European Tour titles in a stellar 2016, with Westwood just three shots back from the Swede after 72 holes.

Westwood, who is hosting this year’s edition of the British Masters at Close House in Newcastle, will be hoping to win the event for the second time. Garcia, the winner of the famed Green Jacket at Augusta National in April, will join up with his former Ryder Cup teammate for a 12:40 tee time.

Rory McIlroyis set to tee it up alongside fellow BritsMatt Fitzpatrick, who claimed his first tour title in 2015 at this event, and Andy Sullivanat 08.10

Ian Poulter, the tournament host two years ago at Woburn Golf Club, will complete an all-English group alongsideTyrrell HattonandRoss Fisher,set to start at 12.50 on Thursday.

Another of the marquee groups certain to attract a strong following is the 12.30 tee time comprising Major winnersMartin Kaymerand Danny Willettand three-time European Tour winnerChris Wood.

The 2018 European Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjørnwill play alongside 2010 US Open winnerGraeme McDowell and the 2015 WGC-HSBC Champions victor Russell Knoxat 12.20.

Last week’s Portugal Masters winnerLucas Bjerregaardbegins at 08.20 withShane LowryandThongchai Jaidee.

The first tee time of the day is at 07.30, withMarcel Siem, Bradley Dredge andRobert Coles set to get the event under way from the first tee andLasse Jensen, Paul Waringand Johan Carlsson from the tenth.
