Everything you need to know from the weather-affected second day at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club.

George Coetzee

There was no change at the top of the leaderboard after day two of the 2022 Omega European Masters, which saw almost three hours lost due to a weather delay.

Here is everything you need to know from the weather-affected second day at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club.

Leaders to finish on Saturday morning

Play was suspended at 13.09 local time due to electrical activity in the area and did not resume for nearly three hours. As a result, many of the afternoon starters still had holes left to play when the hooter sounded because of darkness on Friday evening. First-round leaders Thriston Lawrence and Alejandro Cañizares began their rounds shortly after play resumed and they both managed to move from eight under to 13 under par before running out of daylight with four and five holes to finish respectively. The co-leaders will return early on Saturday morning.

Ace lands Coetzee new OMEGA watch

George Coetzee became the second player this week to make a hole-in-one on Friday after Aaron Cockerill achieved the feat a day earlier. The South African holed his tee-shot at the short 13th using a six iron to win a new OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M worth CHF 18,400.

65 is the magic number for Siem and Elvira

Marcel Siem and Nacho Elvira both head into the weekend on ten under par after they each shot 65s on Thursday and Friday. If they can continue that pattern on Saturday and Sunday, they will surely be in contention to win the trophy.

Møller goes very low

Early riser Niklas Nørgaard Møller carded the lowest round of the week so far on Friday, posting a flawless 61 before play was suspended in the early afternoon. He fired five birdies on the front side - including four on the bounce from the fifth - before making four more on the back nine. With the afternoon starters having to put up with heavy rain at times, no-one was able to get close to Møller's 61.

Jiménez's excellent eagle

Evergreen Miguel Ángel Jiménez delighted the locals with a stunning eagle at the seventh on Friday afternoon. The 58-year-old drove the green before tapping in the birdie putt from 26 feet. How good is this?
