Thorbjørn Olesen has been voted Hilton Golfer of the Month for August following a month in which he moved into the final automatic qualification spot on the European Points List for The Ryder Cup.
The Dane received 64 per cent of the public vote ahead of D+D Real Czech Masters winner Andrea Pavan, who collected 22 per cent of the vote in second place.
The 28 year old secured a pair of top five finishes in August with a tied third placing at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational before coming fourth at the Nordea Masters.
Olesen recorded the joint-low round of the week in Akron by posting a closing six under par 64 to finish alongside Dustin Johnson in third.
His excellent showing in August manoeuvred him into pole position to claim the final spot on Thomas Bjørn’s European Ryder Cup team, and is now preparing to tee it up at Le Golf National after a tied 20th finish at Made in Denmark.
Pavan, who finished second in the competition, raced to his maiden European Tour victory in Prague by finishing on 22 under par, two shots ahead of Ryder Cup Vice-Captain Padraig Harrington.
Paul Waring came third with 12 per cent of the vote following his first European Tour victory, which came in his 200thstart, at the Nordea Masters, while Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways winner Gaganjeet Bhullar collected two per cent of votes.
