Ryder Cup Captain José Maria Olazábal insists he is fully focussed on his own game - until the qualification process begins in September.
The Spaniard, a two-time Major Champion, has been blighted by injury in recent years and made only three European Tour appearances last season.
But at this week's Open de Andalucía de Golf by Turkish Airlines the 45 year old will make his fifth appearance of the current campaign, with some promising recent performances to draw on.
"I feel positive and look forward to this season," said Olazábal, who after two missed cuts finished 63rd in Qatar and 15th in Dubai.
"My start at the Emirates was a struggle but I kept improving.
"I made the cut in Qatar and had a good week in Dubai. I started to strike the ball well and managed a decent score.
"When you start from zero, as I have done this season, there's always room for improvement.
"This has been the first time that I managed to play four weeks in a row for the last three or four years. At the end I was reasonably tired, but I am pleased to see that I was able to compete fairly normally and to complete a good last tournament."
Olazábal will be in charge of the European Team that will look to retain The Ryder Cup in 2013, but he is adamant that will not be a distraction just yet.
"As for The Ryder Cup, I have nothing to say until September. Until then, I will only pay attention to my own game."
"I don't have any specific goals for this season, I won't focus on any particular tournament. My only aim is to recover my form and to be able to compete again.
"It's true that I hit the ball well and got some feel back in Dubai, but one week is not enough, I need more of those.
"I plan to play as many tournaments as I can manage - around 20 would be my guess.
"I feel physically well enough, and hopefully I will keep improving. My health is no excuse to perform badly right now. It's true that I am experienced, but experience is of no use if you keep hitting bad shots."
