Ockie Strydom knows 'figuring out the wind' key to success in Sun City

With Gary Player Country Club showing its teeth on Friday, Strydom remains one shot off the lead at the halfway stage despite adding a second-round 73 to Thursday's 67.

His round contained three birdies as well as a double bogey and two bogeys as the back nine proved extremely challenging.

While Strydom, who is happy to be pain-free following recent injury issues, knows he is playing well, he believes working out the wind will be key on Saturday and Sunday.

He said: "It wasn’t easy out there, the wind was all over the place, you don’t know where it is coming from. It came up probably about two and a half clubs on the back nine, but was a total grind out there today.

"I am driving it well, I am hitting my irons well, chipping and putting well, so I am pleased where the game is at the moment, it is just the wind that I need to figure out tomorrow and on Sunday, so looking forward to it.

"I am just going to stick with my game plan and whatever happens happens."
