Noren edges ahead on day three

Alex Noren held a slender one-shot lead as the third round of the British Masters supported by Sky Sports moved towards its conclusion.

The Swede began the day a single shot behind halfway leader Richard Bland but fired birdies at the second and sixth to move to 12 under and catch up with his playing partner.

And Noren took the outright lead when he sunk his ten-foot birdie putt at the tenth to get to 13 under.

The six-time European Tour winner pulled off a phenomenal par save at the 11th, tapping in from 12 feet to stay ahead.

After his tee shot at the 12th came within an inch of going into a bunker, Noren sent his tricky second shot to within 20 feet of the hole but just missed his birdie putt and had to settle for a par.

And when nearest challenger Bland dropped a shot at the 12th, Noren's advantage was increased to two shots.

But soon after, fellow Swede Peter Hanson, Bernd Wiesberger and Tommy Fleetwood moved to 12 under to reduce Noren's lead to one.

Bland was among the large group on 11 under which also included clubhouse leader Marcel Siem, who made five birdies in his final six holes to complete a superb 65.
