New three year deal for Casa Serena Open

The Casa Serena Open will be part of the European Senior Tour schedule until at least 2013 after a new three year deal was agreed which will see the event remain in the Czech Republic.

Casa Serena Golf, in Kutna Hora, will continue to host the event which has been part of the Senior Tour calendar since 2008, when former Ryder Cup Captain Bernhard Langer won the inaugural staging.

The company Langer operates with his brother Erwin, Langer Sport Marketing, will also continue to run and promote the event, having added the Berenberg Bank Masters, in Germany, from June 17-19, to their portfolio on the Senior Tour this season.

That event will be followed by the fourth edition of the Casa Serena Open from September 16-18, when Englishman Gary Wolstenholme will defend his title he won last year, succeeding compatriot Peter Mitchell.

The event will have a prize fund of €400,000, one of the largest on the 2011 Senior Tour schedule outside the Major Championships, and is set to attract a strong field.

Andy Stubbs, Managing Director of the European Senior Tour, said: “We are delighted to announce a new three year agreement for the Casa Serena Open, continuing the strong partnership we have enjoyed with Maureen Chang and everyone at Casa Serena Golf since 2008.

“Our players have all enjoyed the wonderful hospitality we have received over the past three years and we look forward to sampling it again this year and over the next three editions of the Casa Serena Open.”

Maureen Chang, Founder of Casa Serena, said: “I am very honoured that the Casa Serena tradition continues with the prestigious European Senior Tour.

“Casa Serena Golf and Senior Tour players are a perfect match and, together with our supporting partners and the city of Kutna Hora, we are looking forward to a great event. We are all committed to making all the professionals feel at home at Casa Serena Golf.

“I would like to thank the European Senior Tour, Langer Sports Management, Casa Serena team, the senior professionals, sponsors, and all spectators who will make this a successful event.”
