Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen bids to emulate Højgaard's success as he begins DP World Tour season in Australia

Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen is hoping he can continue to play his part in an excellent time in Danish men's golf as he embarks on the start of his first full season on the DP World Tour.

After earning automatic promotion to the DP World Tour in September as a three-time winner on the European Challenge Tour, he impressed with four top-20 finishes in five appearances at the tail-end of the 2024 Race to Dubai season.

Such form has seen Neergaard-Petersen climb into the top 100 in the world, and he will now look to hunt early success on the DP World Tour as was the case for Rasmus Højgaard, who along with twin brother Nicolai share eight DP World Tour titles between them at 23.

Niklas Nørgaard and Thorbjørn Olesen joined Rasmus in earning dual membership on the PGA TOUR next season via their Race to Dubai Rankings, while in more good news for Danish golf, Jacob Skov Olesen earned a DP World Tour card at Qualifying School earlier this month.

And there are high hopes for Neergaard-Petersen as the 25-year-old continues his career progression by teeing it up alongside Amateur Championship winner Skov Olesen at the season-opening BMW Australian PGA Championship.

"It’s crazy, it’s been a great year for Danish golf on pretty much all levels," he said.

"I’ve said it before, it’s like a family out here. We all go out for dinner and enjoy time off the golf course as well. It’s super exciting and hopefully we can keep building on it.

"Even in junior golf I played a lot with the Højgaard twins, so it’s inspiring to see how well they have done up to this point in their careers.

"It’s something that I want to do down the line as well. Good things ahead for Danish golf, that’s for sure."

Neergaard-Petersen was crowned Challenge Tour Number One in Mallorca earlier this month and he is "excited to get going" for the first of back-to-back appearances in Australia after a few weeks' rest.

"It’s my first time down here and what I’ve heard from speaking to other players who have been here in previous years, they have all told me great things," he added as he offered his first impressions of Royal Queensland Golf Club.

"So far it’s certainly living up to that. I’m really excited.

"It’s a good course. It’s tricky in spots and quite forgiving off the tee. I would say most of the green areas are elevated, so you certainly have to be precise hitting into the greens.

"It’s going to be an exciting week."
