Mory targeting Rankings boost in Brno

Félix Mory is looking to continue his impressive recent form when he tees it up in the Kaskáda Golf Challenge at Golf Resort Kaskáda this week.

The Frenchman kick-started his Road to Mallorca season in April with a tied seventh finish in the Abu Dhabi Challenge and has gone on to finish no lower than 17th in each of his last five outings since.

The 29-year-old’s upturn in form has seen him climb 99 places to 27th in the season-long Road to Mallorca Rankings, with the top 20 at the end of the year graduating to the DP World Tour.

Mory arrives in the Czech city of Brno hoping that another positive result would move him a step closer to earning a first promotion to golf’s Global Tour after near misses in each of his last three seasons.

“I think every year I’m becoming a better player,” he said. “Last year I was closer as I finished 31st, and I missed by one shot at DP World Tour Qualifying School with a lip-out on the final hole.

“I can see myself improving, but you can’t force things in golf. I try not to think about the results, but of course, we all know it’s there and we all want to finish in the top 20.

“I’m pleased with where my game is at. I’m working in the right direction. I’m just playing my game and trying to come to every tournament with no expectations and just do the best I possibly can.”

Mory finished in a share of ninth place in the Kaskáda Golf Challenge 12 months ago, and admits that both on and off the course, it’s a place he enjoys coming back to.

“I like it a lot here,” he added. “It’s very relaxing I think, so I enjoy coming back here and I love the course.

“If the rough is anything like last year, it’s going to be a good test, but it’s just a fun week.

“I’m usually pretty good off the tee and I’m fairly long too, so if I can get the driver working, then I think I will have a few opportunities.”

A strong field assembles in Brno this week, with Road to Mallorca Number Two John Parry and DP World Tour winners Alexander Levy from France and Scotland’s Marc Warren set to tee it up.

Round one begins at 7:30am on Thursday with Mory teeing off alongside Irishman Conor Purcell and home favourite Timotej Formanek at 1:10pm.
