James Morrison claimed a two shot lead at the Barclays Singapore Open before play was suspended with the Englishman having reached 11 under par through 14 holes.
Electrical storms in the Sentosa Golf Club area forced the players off at 1154 local time with the former Madeira Islands Open winner two under for the day on the tougher Serapong Course.
Having posted a sparkling 62 on the easier Tanjong layout on Thursday, Morrison began the day with a bogey five but regained the shot at the seventh.
A further birdie and bogey followed but he picked up shots at the 13th and 14th to move clear of overnight co-leader Edoardo Molinari, who goes out later.
Juvic Pagunsan joined the Italian in second after four birdies on the Serapong course lifted the Filipino to nine under par, only for a dropped shot at the 13th to set him back just as play was suspended.
Starting the day five under, Pagunsan collected three birdies over the front nine before another at the tenth saw the 25 year old move firmly into contention.
Pagunsun was level with Korea’s Y E Yang – who like Molinari had his tee time pushed back by two hours and 45 minutes, with play scheduled to resume at 1440.
American Anthony Kim raced up the leaderboard after an eagle and three birdies on the Tanjong course saw the American climb to six under par.
