Monty's Marvellous Year in Numbers

Colin Montgomerie smashed all sorts of records in 2014 on his way to winning the John Jacobs Trophy. Here's a look at his marvellous year....

  • 4: Number of Victories in 2014 -  US Senior PGA Championship Presented by KitchenAid, US Senior Open, Travis Perkins Masters, Russian Open Golf Championship (Senior)

    - €624, 543: Record earnings for a single Senior Tour season, beating Carl Mason’s 2007 record of €412,376.

    - €388,739: Record margin of victory in the Order of Merit

    - 5: Quickest player in Senior Tour history to win five times. Achieved this in just ten events, two fewer than Carl Mason who won five times in his first 12 appearances.

    - 2: Second former European Tour Number One to win the John Jacobs Trophy, following Ian Woosnam in 2008.

    - 3: The third former European Ryder Cup Captain to win the John Jacobs Trophy after Sam Torrance (2005, 2006, 2009), and Ian Woosnam (2008). Also the third Scot to win the Senior Tour Order of Merit after Torrance and Brian Barnes (1995).

    - 9: Number of Order of Merit titles the Scot has now won – eight on the European Tour, one on the Senior Tour.

    - 1: His victory in the US Senior Open Championship Presented by KitchenAid was Montgomerie’s first official win on American soil. It was also his first Major title after finishing runner up five times in 71 appearances in regular Major Championships.

    - 600: Montgomerie made his 600th European Tour appearance in the Turkish Airlines Open by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in November at the Montgomerie Maxx course he designed. He is just the seventh player to reach the milestone, winning 31 European Tour titles en route.
