Three-time Senior Major Champion Colin Montgomerie has won the European Senior Tour Shot of the Year award for the second year running for his sublime bunker shot at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.
My European Tour voters named the Scot’s second shot on the par four 12th hole during the final round at Harbor Shores as Shot of the Year, with 29 per cent of the vote.
The former Ryder Cup Captain, eight-time European Tour Number One and two-time European Senior Tour Order of Merit champion also won the award in 2015 for a hole-in-one at the season-ending MCB Tour Championship.
“I’m thrilled to have won the Shot of the Year competition for the second year running,” said Montgomerie. “Particularly as it has been voted for by fans of the Senior Tour.

“It was a very different shot to my hole-in-one in Mauritius in 2015, a tricky approach from a tough lie in the bunker at Harbor Shores, so to receive this award is very special.
“I’d like to thank everyone who voted for me, and do hope that the competition winner enjoys watching us at the Senior Open Championship at Royal Porthcawl later this year.”
Roman McGoldrick, from Dublin, Ireland, was selected at random from My European Tour members who voted for the Shot of the Year, winning a Senior Open Experience at Royal Porthcawl in July.
Roman has won four hospitality tickets to the final day of the Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex, bed and breakfast for four people at the Vale Resort, Official Hotel to the Senior Open, and a round with three friends at the Vale Resort’s Wales National Course.
“I'm delighted to see the legends of the game do battle on the magnificent Porthcawl course, and I can’t wait to visit wonderful Wales,” said McGoldrick.
