Francesco Molinari has been voted Hilton Golfer of the Month for July following his historic Open Championship victory at Carnoustie last month.
The Italian secured 63 per cent of the public vote to beat Richard McEvoy, who collected 23 per cent of the vote, to collect the monthly honour.
Molinari’s extraordinary performance in Scotland, where he became the first Italian to win a Major Championship after holding off the likes of Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy, caught the eye of many golf fans.
The six-time European Tour winner played a flawless weekend of golf under intense pressure, going bogey-free for the final 36 holes, the last 18 of which were registered while playing alongside Tiger Woods.
McEvoy also enjoyed the best month of his long career in July, winning his maiden European Tour title in what was his 285th start on Tour, at the Porsche European Open in Germany.
Brandon Stone came third in the voting results thanks to his victory at the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, where the South African came within inches of shooting the European Tour's first ever round of 59, on the way to his third European Tour title, with Russell Knox fourth.
Fans who cast their vote for Hilton Golfer of the month are automatically entered into a fantastic prize draw, with one lucky voter winning a two-night stay at any Hilton hotel, anywhere in the world.
This is the second time Molinari has won the award in 2018 after also returning victorious in May following his win at the BMW PGA Championship.
Hilton is the Official Sponsor of the Hilton Golfer of the Month award, which recognises and rewards the best performances of European Tour Members each month.
