Molinari feeling good ahead of WGC-HSBC Champions

Francesco Molinari hopes to convert his fine recent form into a second WGC - HSBC Champions title at Sheshan International GC this week.

The World Number 20 won this event in 2010 and has two other top-ten finishes in Shanghai to his name, including a tie for sixth last year.

Molinari finished tied for sixth as he defended the Italian Open on home soil a fortnight ago and having finished in a share of second at the US PGA Championship hopes to be in contention again come Sunday.

"It's always nice to come back - obviously good memories here," he said.

"The course hasn't changed much since then. I'm looking forward to a nice week.

"The game is in good shape - it's a course where usually the greens are in good shape so if you're hitting fairways and greens is the biggest key."

The 34 year old was in the hunt to win a third Italian Open last time out, only to lose touch with eventual winner Tyrrell Hatton during the final round.

"Italy was pretty good," he added. "The last day was disappointing but it was nice to put myself in contention to defend my title."

Another course specialist looking for a second World Golf Championships title is England's Justin Rose.

Rose has finished tied seventh and fifth in previous appearances here and the Olympic champion comes into the event on the back of four consecutive top-ten finishes during the US PGA Tour's FedEx Cup.

"It's a great tournament - HSBC put on a first-class show here and obviously being a world event it's always exciting to be back," said Rose.

"It's a good golf course and one that I've had a decent week at in the past; never really contended but I feel like I have played well on at least."

Rose last played at the end of September and hopes his game is tournament ready.

"It's a bit like cramming for an exam," he added. "I had a couple of weeks off and did a lot of travelling - went down to South Africa to see my gran.

"Last week I hit balls and everything feels good but it's just about being tournament sharp now."
