The 50 year old, who won his national title last weekend just a few weeks after triumphing on his debut on the US Champions Tour, happily signed autographs and posed for photographs with the public at the VisitWales stand in the Championship Village.

Jiménez is due to make his debut appearance in the Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex at Royal Porthcawl links in Wales from July 24-27 and he took time to admire the glorious backdrops featuring classic Welsh courses, especially the Royal Porthcawl backdrops.

The Spaniard also met John Jermine, a prominent member at Royal Porthcawl, and chatted to the spectators attending the BMW PGA Championship before taking a tour of the stunning Championship Village.

Jiménez commented: “I am really looking forward to seeing Royal Porthcawl for the first time in July. I enjoyed my first start on the US Champions Tour, when I won in Atlanta the week after the Masters, and it should be a good week in Wales.

“I enjoyed success there in the Wales Open at Celtic Manor and also The Ryder Cup, so I have many happy memories.”
