The 54 year old, who is still a regular on the European Tour, has confirmed his attendance in the 54-hole event at Meliã Villaitana GC, Benidorm from November 29 – December 1.

Jiménez, who has represented Europe in four Ryder Cups, has made regular appearances at Senior Major Championships since turning 50 in 2014, and is a four-time winner on the PGA TOUR Champions circuit.

The Spaniard, who has won 21 times on the European Tour, has started the 2018 season in fine fashion as he finished in a share of seventh place at the UBS Hong Kong Open and then inside the top 20 at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

“The Costa Blanca Benidorm Senior Masters will be my first regular Staysure Tour event,” said Jiménez.

“It is important for all of us to have tournaments of this level on this Tour. We had a golden era some years ago with many events and to have another new Staysure Tour event on the schedule will surely help promote many more.”

The Costa Blanca Benidorm Senior Golf Masters marks the return of the Staysure Tour to Spanish soil after a six-year absence.

Cesar Sanchez, President of the region of Alicante, said: “All Spaniards are proud of Miguel Angel Jiménez, he is one of our most recognisable golfing stars.

“Golf is very important for the region, generating more than €440 million for the local economy. We are delighted to be able to launch this new event and hope we can help it grow over the next three years.”

The Costa Blanca Benidorm Senior Golf Masters is one of three new confirmed events on the Staysure Tour schedule for 2018, joining the Shipco Masters Promoted by Simon’s Golf and the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship.
