More than 1,400 spectators raised in excess of £7,000 by participating in the Anniversary Mega Putt Challenge during the recent BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club.
With donations set at £5 per entry, earning three attempts at a monster 60 foot putt in the Championship Village during the flagship event – one foot for every year of the championship, 1,420 spectators took part with 100 per cent of the donation benefitting the Official Charity of the BMW PGA Championship 2014, Challengers.
Each entrant received a limited edition BMW PGA Championship Anniversary Titleist golf ball as well as entry into the Mega Putt Challenge Grand Prize Draw which saw Ryan Coker drawn as the lucky winner at the conclusion of Championship and taking home the stunning prize of a full set of golf clubs from Challenge sponsor Titleist.
“I can't tell you how please I am to have won such a prize and contributed towards the great amount raised for the charity,” Ryan said. “I had an awesome day at Wentworth at the BMW PGA Championship. It was the first time I've ever seen the professionals live and it was quite an experience. Thanks to all at The European Tour!”
In addition to the grand prize draw, every player who successfully holed the Mega during the championship was entered into a daily prize draw with the chance of winning a Titleist Scotty Cameron putter.
Therefore, five golfers out of the 69 successful participants who holed out on the lengthy and undulating recreation of the first hole of Wentworth’s iconic West Course during the week are now proud owners of a Scotty Cameron, courtesy of Titleist.
Official Charity Challengers are dedicated to providing exciting and challenging play and leisure opportunities for disabled children and young people through their play and youth centres in Guildford and Farnham, as well as a range of community based projects across Surrey and surrounding areas.
The charity received a total of £7,100 from the Mega Putt Challenge, which took the total raised for during the BMW PGA Championship week to a total of £75,000.
