Lawrie, the overnight leader after opening with a flawless six under par 66, was among the afternoon starters in Čeladná.

And it was his fellow Irishman McGinley posing the biggest threat during the morning session, playing his first 11 holes in two under par to move into a share of second on five under.

Tied with McGinley was another Irishman, Damien McGrane, who like Lawrie had a late tee time.

Scotland’s David Drysdale was one under with five to play to move into a share of fourth on four under with Shane Lowry and Mikael Lundberg.

France’s Victor Dubuisson, joint second overnight, fell back with four bogeys on the front nine and with two to play was two under for the tournament.
