Graeme McDowell, the joint winner of The European Tour Race to Dubai Golfer of the Year with German Martin Kaymer, has been named 2010 RTE Sportsperson of the Year.
The Portrush star picked up the award from Ireland's national television and radio broadcaster after a stunning year which saw him win the US Open Championship and secure the winning point as Europe regained The Ryder Cup.
McDowell also won the Celtic Manor Wales Open and the Andalucia Valderrama Masters on The European Tour, and ended the year with victory in the Chevron World Challenge in the US.
The award from the Irish broadcasters helped make up for the disappointment of missing out on the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award last weekend.
McDowell finished fifth in that poll, which was won by jockey Tony McCoy.
