Masters Tournament - Day three digest

Everything you need to know from the weather-shortened third day at Augusta National Golf Club.

Rahm

Koepka extended his lead over Rahm from two to four shots in the early stages of the third round before unrelenting rain forced play to be suspended on Saturday afternoon.

Here is everything you need to know from the weather-shortened third day at Augusta National Golf Club.

Rain stops play

The tournament faced more disruption as the forecast wet weather arrived on Saturday, with persistent rain leading to a build-up of standing water on some greens. Play was called off for the day at 15.15 local time, with the leaders at the seventh hole. The third round will resume at 08.30 on Sunday.

Koepka extends his lead

There was enough time before the hooter sounded for halfway leader Brooks Koepka to stretch his advantage to four strokes, as a birdie on the long second took him to 13 under par. But he will have to fight off nearest challenger Jon Rahm if he is to win his fifth Major title on Sunday.

Rahm ready for marathon final day

Spanish Ryder Cup star Rahm had an early start on Saturday, returning to complete the final nine holes of his weather-disrupted second round in the morning. He managed to cover the back nine in one under par to close the gap on Koepka to two strokes. But after making one birdie and two bogeys in the first six holes of round three, he has work to do if he is going to catch Koepka. There is a lot of golf still to be played, however, and Rahm - who had woken up expecting to play one-and-a-half rounds on Saturday before the weather intervened - is not daunted by the prospect of a long day on Sunday. He said: "Pretty much similar to what I would have done today. So yeah, a lot of holes. But feeling good, feeling strong and keep it going."

Flawless Fitzpatrick makes his move

U.S. Open Champion Matt Fitzpatrick made three birdies and no bogeys in 11 holes before the suspension to move into a tie for fourth. Can the Englishman produce yet more Major magic on Sunday?

Lyle finishes his Masters journey with familiar putter

Sandy Lyle took a trip down memory lane as he played his final competitive shot at Augusta National before retirement with a replica of the putter which helped him to Masters glory in 1988. Lyle said: "The replica putter is an idea that Ping came up with and they reproduced the model of putter I used in '88, which is a Ping Pal, and they obviously reserved one for me. And I didn't realise it was going to be a gold-ish one. So we thought it would be nice to use it on the last hole from 12 feet."
