Genworth’s Putts4Charity Challenge made a return to The European Tour at this week’s 70° Open d’Italia LINDT, where Matteo Manassero took time out of his hectic schedule to help The Tour Players’ Foundation Tour team to a victory over Genworth and Grégory Bourdy on Friday afternoon.
The new look Putts4Charity format, introduced for 2013, sees two European Tour players teaming up with a Genworth representative and a Tour representative to form two teams who compete against each other on the specially constructed Putts4Charity putting greens in the tented village.
The Genworth Foundation makes a donation of €2,000 to SOS Children’s Villages on behalf of the winning team after each Challenge.
The Challenge at the 70° Open d’Italia LINDT was the fifth of a six-match series, with Manassero and Tournament Director José Maria Zamora defeating Bourdy and Bruno Patroncini – Genworth’s Country Sales Leader in Italy – to make the series score 3-2 to Genworth. The final match-up of the 2013 season set to take place at the Turkish Airlines Open in November.
Manassero was delighted to have played his part, commenting: “It was a lot of fun playing in the Putts4Charity Challenge and it is always a pleasure to be able to help good causes such as the SOS Children’s Villages.”
Putts4Charity also engages with tournament spectators at the European Tour tournaments where it features by challenging the public to make a successful “one putt” on the Putts4Charity greens.
Each successful attempt by a spectator generates €1, plus an additional €2 is donated when a European Tour player makes a one putt out on course. Like the Challenge Series, all funds are donated by the Genworth Foundation.
Putts4Charity has generated donations exceeding €1 Million to date and has already helped to change the lives of thousands of orphaned and abandoned children across Europe and China through grants to SOS Children’s Villages.
