Mallorca Golf Open - Day three digest

Everything you need to know from Moving Day at Son Muntaner Golf Club.

Paul

Mansell set a new course record and Paul had us all on 59 watch on a day of unbelievably low scoring at the 2022 Mallorca Golf Open.

Here is everything you need to know from Moving Day at Son Muntaner Golf Club.

Mansell makes big move with course-record 61

Richard Mansell completely banished the memory of his first-round quadruple bogey as he fired eight birdies on the back nine alone, and ten in total, in a flawless 61 to storm into contention. After notching two birdies and pulling off a series of par saves on the front side, he birdied eight of the nine holes after the turn to get to 13 under par. What a round of golf!

Paul's extraordinary eagles

Many golfers would be over the moon with one eagle on their scorecard but German Yannik Paul managed to get three in his first 11 holes on Saturday. He made the first from 11 feet at the par-four fifth after driving the green, before chipping in from just shy of the bunker at the eighth for his second. Paul then holed his tricky eagle putt from the rough around the 11th green to get to nine under and put everyone on 59 watch. But he closed his round with seven straight pars to sit alongside Ryan Fox at the summit on 16 under. Paul's twin was cheering him on from America...

Speaking of twins...

Højgaard brothers in the mix

Both Højgaards are in the top ten going into Sunday's fourth round, with Nicolai's 64 moving him above Rasmus and into a tie for sixth. Could they feature prominently in the hunt for the title?

Von Dellingshausen's remarkable week continues

Having earned himself a weekend Yacht Charter in Mallorca or Ibiza worth €15,000 after firing an eagle at the ninth on Friday, Von Dellingshausen had another good day. He made eight birdies - including five in a row from the fifth - and a solitary bogey to sign for a 64 and jump to 12 under. The German started the week 121st on the DP World Tour Rankings in Partnership with Rolex and is looking for a strong finish to the tournament.

Van Driel's big finish

Darius van Driel is also looking to secure his playing rights for next season and did his chances no harm with this breathtaking hole-out eagle at the last. His third-round 65 takes him to 11 under.
