Majestic Terre Blanche fit for Senior stars

Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort this week hosts the French Riviera Masters for a second consecutive year, once again showcasing some of Europe’s leading golfing facilities to a worldwide audience.

The Albatros Golf Performance Centre at Terre Blanche.

The stunning venue in Tourrettes, Provence, is one of eight European Tour Destinations and is part of the 12-strong European Tour Properties portfolio, along with Le Golf National in Paris, venue for The 2018 Ryder Cup.

Situated in the hills of Provence, the world class golf resort features an exclusive 5* hotel and a 3,200 metre Spa, as well as two 18 hole, par 72 championship courses, Le Château, which the Senior Tour players are tackling this week, and Le Riou, both of which were designed by former Ryder Cup player Dave Thomas.

Terre Blanche also boasts the Albatros performance centre, an outstanding golf academy offering the latest technology and analysis tools, which was the first in the world to be afforded European Tour Performance Institute status.

European Tour professional Raphaël Jacquelin is one player to benefit from these facilities as the club’s Touring Professional and an Honorary Member of Terre Blanche, a position also held by H.S.H. Prince Albert II and German football legend Franz Beckenbauer,

After winning the Open de España earlier this year, Jacquelin credited the pioneering facilities at Terre Blanche as a contributing factor to his success, following hours of practice at world-renowned Albatros Golf Performance Centre under the watchful eye of his coach Alain Alberti, who also started up the resort’s Leadbetter Golf Academy.

Australian Peter Fowler, the 2011 Senior Tour Order of Merit winner, has also been taking full advantage of the first-class facilities during his stay for the French Riviera Masters.

He said: “The facilities are top class. The fitness centre and spa are outstanding and I’ve been in the outdoor pool every morning.

“I’ve spent some time on the range using the biomechanics equipment, which is really good. It gives you some strong information and it has really helped me to practice better. If you want somewhere to work on your game, the facilities here are excellent.”

David MacLaren, Director of Property and Venue Development for The European Tour, said “We are delighted to once again bring top class professional golf to Terre Blanche. The presence of the European Senior tour, along with other events, bears testimony not just to the quality of both golf courses, designed by the late Dave Thomas, but also to the world class facilities which players, spectators and visitors alike can enjoy.

“When you add all of this to the beautiful Provence setting, Terre Blanche can rightfully take its place as one of the finest resorts in Europe and one which we know our playing professionals enjoy.”
