The DP World Tour Rankings in Partnership with Rolex continues this week with a visit to Denmark as the 2022 Made in HimmerLand takes place at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort.
Twin brothers Nicolai and Rasmus Højgaard are among a host of Danes looking for victory on home soil in a field which includes Team Europe Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald, while Thriston Lawrence - the Tour’s most recent winner - is targeting a third title of the season.
If you have not done so already, you can sign up now to the official Fantasy game of the DP World Tour and submit your six-man team before round one on Thursday: https://fantasy.dpworldtour.com.
This week’s event marks the start of the ‘September Challenge’, which offers players the opportunity to win some great prizes.
Favourite – Matt Wallace
While the Englishman was unable to register his fifth DP World Tour title and first in almost four years at the Omega European Masters, he arrives in Denmark brimming with belief after his performance in the Swiss Alps.
Wallace said ahead of the final round that he felt he was “back” after struggling for form last year and now he returns to the tournament he last celebrated success at, albeit it was when Silkeborg Ry GC played host in 2018.
The 32-year-old has made the cut in each of his three appearances in Denmark and the combination of his runner-up finish last week and fond memories from this event can help inspire him to mount another title challenge this week.
Three top 20s in his six appearances so far on Tour this season demonstrate he is one to watch with interest over the closing months of the season.
Form horse – Thriston Lawrence
Victory at the weekend in his debut appearance at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club saw the South African rise to ninth in the season-long DP World Tour Rankings.
Lawrence’s play-off victory against Wallace, completing a wire-to-wire success in Switzerland, propelled him into the top 100 on the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time in his career.
The 25-year-old, now ranked 87th, won his maiden Tour title at the season-opening Joburg Open last November and has proven a consistent force with five top tens in between his two triumphs.
With confidence at such a high, could he become the first player to win for a third time on Tour this season?
Wild card – Søren Kjeldsen
Home advantage has yet to prove a telling factor in the seven previous editions of this event, but do not be surprised if it is a Dane celebrating victory this time around in Farsø.
Kjeldsen has registered four top 20s in his home event, including a tie for 12th when the tournament moved to Silkeborg in 2018 and the four-time Tour winner has also only missed the cut on one occasion in front of his home fans, proving he is likely to keep himself in contention going into the weekend.
The 47-year-old finished tied seventh at the Hero Open in Scotland last month – his best result of the season so far.
