Last weekend, the trophy for the inaugural Made in Denmark was unveiled at the Danish Golf Show as part of the Danish Travel Show at the MCH Exhibition Centre, in Herning.
The trophy is the embodiment of Made in Denmark, which will be played at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort from August 14-17.
Designed by Allan Scharff and made by Georg Jensen, it represents the fusion of artistic design and meticulous craftsmanship. The ‘Made in Denmark’ inscription has been hammered into the trophy in a distinct pattern. The trophy is 100% handmade and was hammered from start to finish, right down to the ‘Made in Denmark’ quotations embellishing the entire bowl.
“It is the most spectacular trophy I have seen,” said European Tour Member JB Hansen when he attended the presentation of the trophy.
Flemming Astrup, the promoter of Made in Denmark, added: “Made in Denmark will focus on Denmark and Danish golfing culture, and the design of the trophy is a product of our mindset. The event will act as a driver for showcasing Denmark, Danish culture and golf in Denmark. We want to serve Danish food and drink, present Danish design and show the picture of a summer ‘Made in Denmark’.
“Our ambition is that the experience of both the non-golfing Danes and visiting foreign golf enthusiasts will be different from other golf tournaments. Hopefully, they will think that it is an innovative and refreshing way to run a major sporting event. I know that it will be worth the trip – both for the spectators and the players.”
