Robert MacIntyre will be joined by a host of former Ryder Cup players at the Cazoo Open de France field as Le Golf National prepares to host the 50th edition of the historic event on the DP World Tour from September 21-24.
The venue, which is synonymous with the Ryder Cup after hosting the biennial contest in 2018, will welcome a strong field later this month, including MacIntyre, just the week before he makes his debut in the biennial contest, as well Denmark’s Thorbjørn Olesen, who made his Team Europe debut in Paris five years ago. The seven-time DP World Tour winner, who has finished inside the top three twice at the Cazoo Open de France, will be joined by the last Frenchman to play in golf’s greatest team contest, Victor Dubuisson, who formed part of Paul McGinley’s triumphant 2014 team at Gleneagles.
Rafa Cabrera-Bello, who made his Team Europe bow in 2016, will return to Continental Europe’s oldest national open for the first time since 2018, while the first Belgian to play in the Ryder Cup, Nicolas Colsaerts, will return to the scene of his 2019 triumph the week before he takes on vice-captaincy duties at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.
Two-time DP World Tour winner Aaron Rai, who claimed his first Rolex Series title in Scotland in 2020, will make his third appearance at Le Golf National and will be joined by rising stars Rasmus Højgaard, of Denmark, and Race to Dubai Number Three Adrian Meronk, of Poland, who have seven DP World Tour titles between them.
New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier, who won his maiden title at the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo earlier this year, will join already-announced countryman Ryan Fox and good friend Min Woo Lee in the French capital, as well as fellow Challenge Tour graduate Yannik Paul, who returns after finishing in a tie for eighth on his tournament debut last year and Belgium’s Thomas Detry.
A further plethora of winners on the 2023 Race to Dubai are set to tee it up in France, including South Africa’s Thriston Lawrence, who won his fourth DP World Tour title at the BMW International Open earlier this year, and five-time winner Marcel Siem, who returned to the winner’s circle for the first time in over eight years at the Hero Indian Open.
Danny Willett, the 2016 Masters Champion, his fellow Rolex Series winner Victor Perez and his countrymen Romain Langasque, Antoine Rozner and Alexander Levy have all already been announced for what is set to be a memorable 50th anniversary celebration of the DP World Tour’s involvement in the event.
