Robert MacIntyre may have enjoyed an impressive start to his Major Championship career but the rising star is aiming for more success in golf's biggest events.
The Scot finished in a tie for sixth on his Major debut at the 2019 Open Championship and then made the cut at last season's U.S. Open and US PGA Championship before finishing in a tie for 12th on his Masters Tournament debut last month.
The 2021 US PGA this week has seen him make it five weekends out of five in golf's big four and he has steadily improved at Kiawah Island with rounds of 75-73-72 over one of the game's toughest tests.
That is a record to be extremely proud of at just 24 years of age but after claiming a maiden European Tour victory last season, MacIntyre is hungry to truly contend on the biggest stage.
I feel like I’m miles off where I want to be
"It’s good, but I’ve not challenged in one yet,” he said. “So, although I’m making cuts and picking up (world ranking) points, I feel like I’m miles off where I want to be.
"I want to be challenging on a Sunday and this weekend, I’m making up the numbers, it feels.
“That’s the disappointing part, but you can’t have it all at the one time.”
He added: “I feel better on tougher golf courses, I think it suits my game more. The tougher the better for me."
