Robert MacIntyre could put his name alongside two of the greats of the game on Sunday with a win at the 2020 DP World Tour Championship, Dubai.
The Scotsman won the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award last season and if he wins the event on Sunday, he could also be taking home the Harry Vardon Trophy - although he will need some help for that to happen.
To win it all, MacIntyre would need to win, but he would also need Patrick Reed to finish sixth or lower, and all five of Tommy Fleetwood, Collin Morikawa, Lee Westwood, Victor Perez and Aaron Rai to finish third or lower.
Should the stars align to make him Europe's Number One, MacIntyre would join an exclusive club that only has two of his countrymen as members.
In the pre-European Tour era, Bernard Gallacher was Rookie of the Year in 1968 and followed that by winning the Harry Vardon Trophy 12 months later.
Sandy Lyle achieved the same feat in in 1978 and 1979 but no player has done it since, with MacIntyre potentially 18 holes away from joining that illustrious company.
"It would mean everything," he said. "Not just to me but my whole team, my family.
"But I've got a job to do. I can't look too far ahead. Keep doing what I'm doing - if it's good enough, it's good enough. If not, well, then I've been beaten by a better man."
