Lyoness backing Austrian sport through Sporthilfe

Lyoness, the sponsors of Austria’s national European Tour event this year for the sixth consecutive time, has this week been proving that its vision in developing grassroots sport in its home country goes far beyond just golf.

The tournament has this year acquired a new title, the Lyoness Open powered by Sporthilfe Cashback Card, in a reference to the tournament’s new charitable beneficiary which raises money for Austria athletes of all codes.

Founded in 1971, Österreichische Sporthilfe is a non-profit association which promotes Austrian athletes with and without disabilities.

It aims to provide the athletes with non-material and material support on their way to the top – providing role models for young people and ambassadors for Austria all around the world.

The organisation, which is also funded by the Austrian national lottery, has been heavily backed by Lyoness – Austria’s biggest shopping community and loyalty card brand – and they developed a unique concept to coincide with this week’s event.

The Sporthilfe Cashback Card was introduced to Lyoness customers to give them special shopping privileges while also giving back to Austrian sport – with every transaction using the card, a donation will be made to Sporthilfe.

“Lyoness is nationally and internationally active in the sport, which for us is an important reason for this unique collaboration,” said Anton Schutti, CEO of Sporthilfe. “Anyone who buys in the future with a Sports Aid Cashback Card, supports funded by the Austrian Sporthilfe domestic elite athletes.”

“The introduction of the Sporthilfe Cashback Card is a mutually beneficial agreement for all parties concerned,” said Silvia Kelemen, Head of Public Relations for Lyoness. “Thousands of sports-loving shoppers can now shop with Lyoness and at the same time contribute to the Austrian community.”
