Luiten leads in Austria

Joost Luiten turned in a one under 35 to takeover at the top of the Austrian GolfOpen presented by Lyoness.

The Dutchman, one behind Liam Bond overnight, birdied the tenth, his first hole of the day, and short 15th with a bogey in between at the 12th to reach six under par at Diamond Country Club.

And that was enough for the outright lead as rookie Bond had double bogeys at the first and 11th.

That was mixed with three birdies and a bogey to leave the Welshman – playing his first season on The European Tour after coming through Qualifying School at the 16th attempt – four under.

Dane Thomas Nørret was amongst the afternoon starters and lay on five under after his opening 67, the same mark as Australian Daniel Gaunt who was level par through 13 holes.

Home favourite Bernd Wiesberger was two under through 12 to sit in a share of fourth on four under with Bond, England’s Robert Coles and Italy’s Emanuele Canonica.
