Shane Lowry admits he is still coming down from the adrenaline rush of the Ryder Cup but the Irishman insists he is in it to win it at this week's 2021 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The 2019 Open Champion won one point from his three matches as Europe came out on the wrong end of a 19-9 scoreline but despite that result, Lowry insists he had an "amazing" week at Whistling Straits.
It is not quite business as usual on his return to Race to Dubai action as a stellar field takes on Kingsbarns and Carnoustie Golf Links and the Old Course at St Andrews, with a team event with an amateur partner taking place alongside the individual contest.
Lowry is well used to playing in autumn conditions on the coast of the British Isles and, with two previous top tens at this event, he tees it up alongside regular partner Gerry McManus looking for yet more links glory.
"I come here and play with the same partner, Gerry, and that's the reason I'm here, is to try to win and have a good time as well," he said.
"This is one of the weeks of the year that I really enjoy, getting to play the Old Course a couple of times and it's just so nice to be in St Andrews. I'm just happy to be here.
"My dad and his friends always come over. It's kind of a week that I do love and I love playing here.
"I can't believe I'm going to play Carnoustie at nine o'clock tomorrow morning to be perfectly honest. It's going to be hard to go out and play well but I'm going to try my best.
"These are the weeks that maybe you do go out and play your best and have a chance to win the tournament at the end of it."
