Richard Mansell is relishing the chance to tee it up close to home when the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo returns to The Belfry, from June 28-July 2.
The 28-year-old, from Cannock, just half an hour down the road from The Belfry, finished in a share of eighth at last year’s tournament and is excited to tee it up on his doorstep in a few weeks’ time.
The Betfred British Masters has been held at The Belfry since 2021, with six-time Major Champion Sir Nick Faldo assuming hosting duties. Fans are urged to purchase tickets in advance after more than 50,000 spectators lined the fairways during last year’s tournament, with a sold-out 15,000 crowd on Sunday. Currently in his third consecutive season on the DP World Tour after graduating from the European Challenge Tour in 2020, Mansell’s consistency earned a call up to the Great Britain & Ireland Hero Cup side at the start of the year.
With a runner-up result and two third-place finishes to his name during his Tour career thus far, Mansell would love nothing more than to claim a maiden victory on home turf.
“It’s really special having the opportunity to play so close to home and I’m really excited for the week,” said Mansell. “The Belfry is a fantastic venue and the atmosphere last year was brilliant. It was great seeing friends and family in the crowd amongst all the fans and I’m looking forward to playing in front of them again.”
Mansell joins former World Number One Justin Rose and defending champion Thorbjørn Olesen among a host of DP World Tour stars in the field. Also set to tee it up are Mansell’s Hero Cup teammates Ewen Ferguson and Robert MacIntyre and Continental Europe opponents Victor Perez and Adrian Meronk.
