Lipsky puts pressure on Warren

Marc Warren saw his lead cut to one shot on day two of the Maybank Championship as David Lipsky made an impressive move through the field.

The Scot had started the day with a two-shot lead and none of the early starters could reel him in until Lipsky birdied his penultimate hole and signed for a 67 and the clubhouse lead.

A birdie on the fourth then helped move Warren to ten under after five holes, with eight players within three shots of the lead.

Italy's Matteo Manassero signed for a 66 to join the group in third at seven under alongside Indian duo Anirban Lahiri and Shiv Kapur, Australian Sam Brazel and German Marcel Siem.

Lipsky has nine top tens since his win at the 2014 Omega European Masters, with three of those coming in his last eight events, and he continued his good form at Saujana Golf and Country Club.

The American had started the day five shots off the lead but made birdies on the first, fifth, sixth and seventh to turn in 32 and get to eight under.

A run of nine consecutive pars was to follow before he birdied the 17th from 18 feet after getting in some trouble off the tee to finally give Warren some company at the top of the leaderboard.

Warren parred his opening three holes but a birdie on the fourth saw him reclaim the lead and made him the first man this week to hit double figures.

Manassero was bogey-free in his 66, picking up shots on the 13th, 18th, second, fourth, fifth and eighth.

Kapur ended his rollercoaster 67 with three birdies to put himself into contention. He turned in 34 with four birdies and two bogeys and remained two under for the day stood on the 16th tee before his grandstand finish.

Countryman Lahiri signed for a 68 with six birdies and two bogeys.

A gain on the 13th was quickly followed by a dropped shot on the next but the two-time European Tour winner made three birdies in four holes to turn in 33. Another gain on the fifth was quickly cancelled out before he made a final birdie of the day on the eighth.

Siem made four birdies and three bogeys in his 71, while Brazel had a single dropped shot in recording the same score.

Masters Tournament champion Danny Willett was also at seven under after a birdie on the fifth, alongside Thai teenager Phachara Khongwatmai who had a birdie and a bogey in his first five holes.

India's Gaganjeet Bhullar signed for a level par 72 to sit at six under alongside England's Robert Rock and Bangladeshi Siddikur Rahman.

Lee Westwood - a two-time winner in Malaysia - signed for a 66 to sit in a group at five under including Lucas Bjerregaard, Thongchai Jaidee, Pablo Larrazábal and Prom Meesawat.
