Life on Tour podcast returns with Andrew Johnston

After a near two-year absence, the Life on Tour podcast returns to bring you more insight around the stories of those from the world of golf on the DP World Tour.

The revamped golf podcast – now sponsored by Buffalo Trace – will see commentator and presenter George Harper Jr. joined by a co-host and a guest for each episode.

Joining Harper Jr. and fellow analyst John E. Morgan is Andrew Johnston, who secured his best DP World Tour finish for over four years at the Omega European Masters in September, after a torrid two seasons plagued by injury.

After initially sustaining a thumb injury while practising in Portugal at the start of 2022, Johnston details the setbacks he endured in the subsequent months as he sought a diagnosis on the severity and how the issue left him "in pieces" on his return to the game.

“The one interesting and major thing that I have changed is my grip,” he reveals. “I was always an overlapper and I have had to go interlock to take the pressure off my thumb.”

Having spoken openly over recent years about his mental health struggles, including in a candid DP World Tour Player Blog, Johnston now believes he is dealing with life on Tour better than ever.

“The Czech Masters was a real disappointment over the weekend,” he says, recalling how he dropped from tied third after the third round to finish tied 23rd.

“I was quite deflated. I was a nervous, anxious shell on Sunday. I didn’t deal with it very well. I came off [the course] and thought rather than picking it apart, let’s go again.

“[Five or six years ago] I would have been fuming and just beat myself up.”

In the near hour-long conversation, the man affectionately known as Beef also discusses how he first got into the sport, and some of his best memories as an amateur among a range of topics.
