Levy the man to catch in Germany

Alexander Levy set the clubhouse target at 17 under as the start of play was delayed for the third day in a row at the Porsche European Open.

Fog had caused nearly seven hours to be lost on days one and two and a further three-hour suspension on Saturday saw organisers take the decision to cut the tournament to 54 holes.

Levy made 17 birdies in 35 holes in the first two rounds at Golf Resort Bad Griesbach and returned to the course to make a par on the ninth and set the target for those players yet to start their second rounds.

Englishman Ross Fisher made a birdie in his remaining three holes to reduce the overnight lead to five shots, but Levy was in a commanding position to claim his third European Tour title.

Should he lift the trophy on Sunday afternoon, it will be the second time the 26 year old has won a reduced event, with the Portugal Masters in 2014 being played over 36 holes due to heavy rain.

Fisher birdied the par three seventh to move a shot clear of home favourite Martin Kaymer, who parred his final hole to stay at 11 under.

Swede Robert Karlsson was then at ten under after bogeying the seventh in his final three holes, alongside South African Jean Hugo who closed with five pars.

Austrian Bernd Wiesberger birdied the first to get to nine under after six holes and join England's Matthew Southgate and South Korean Soomin Lee who were in the clubhouse.

English duo Richard Bland and Oliver Fisher, Ireland's Paul Dunne and American David Lipsky were then all at eight under having completed their rounds.
