Alexander Levy saw his lead cut to two shots as the final round of the fog-shortened Porsche European Open got under way at Golf Resort Bad Griesbach.
With fog delays on the first three days, the decision was made to reduce the event to 54 holes and Levy had been imperious in his first 36, making 17 birdies without dropping a shot.
He made two bogeys in his first four holes on Sunday, though, to go with two gains as playing partner Michael Jonzon picked up two shots to get to 15 under.
Both Jonzon and Levy were seeking their third European Tour wins but while both of Levy's victories came in 2014, the Swede has not held a Tour card since 2013 and entered this week as fourth reserve.
The remaining member of the final group Ross Fisher was then at 14 under after two birdies, a shot clear of home favourite Martin Kaymer.
There was a big swing straight away in the last group as Levy dropped his first shot of the week on the first with Jonzon and Fisher both picking up birdies.
The Frenchman bounced straight back with a 40-foot birdie putt on the second to calm any final day nerves and establish a three-shot lead over Jonzon.
The leading trio then all took advantage of the par five third, with Kaymer making gains on the third and fourth - the latter with a lengthy putt - to get to 13 under.
Levy missed the green on the same hole to drop another shot with Jonzon getting up and down to save par and Fisher seeing his birdie putt agonisingly turn a full 45 degrees and stay up.
Austria's Bernd Wiesberger was then at 12 under after a birdie on the first, a shot clear of Swedish duo Magnus A Carlsson and Robert Karlsson, English pair Richard Bland and Matthew Southgate, German Florian Fritsch and South Africa's Jean Hugo.
