A unique challenge
The home of the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge, Golf PGA France du Vaudreuil will provide the perfect test for the field this week. The course is laid out as two returning nines, with the shorter outward half playing to a par of 35, whilst the longer inward half plays to 37 and includes three par fives. Highlight holes include the short par three fifth and the 358 metre long ninth which plays to a pronounced back-to-front sloping green.
Ten years of Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge
This year will see the players tee it up for the tenth edition of the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge. Starting in 2013, the event has taken place every year since, apart from 2020, making this a landmark year for the tournament. In that time, there have been several iconic moments such as American Brinson Paolini winning by one shot in the inaugural tournament and Andrew Johnston firing a final round 64 to win by four shots the following year. Other winners include Ryan Fox, Alexander Björk, Aaron Rai, Richard McEvoy, Steven Tiley, Marcel Siem and Nathan Kimsey who triumphed in a playoff last year. Tiley, who won here in 2019, is in the field this week too.
A ticket to the 2023 Cazoo Open de France
At last week’s Blot Open de Bretagne and this week’s Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge, a specific Order of Merit is in place, where the leading French professional will earn a spot at the 2023 Cazoo Open de France on the DP World Tour. The Order of Merit counts the points acquired across the two tournaments.
After the first of back-to-back events, Jérôme Lando-Casanova and Félix Mory currently share first place on 100 points having finished in a tie for fourth in Brittany. Grégory Bourdy received 37 points for a tied 12th finish, with Road to Mallorca Number One Ugo Coussaud on 31 points having finished in 14th. There’s all to play for at Le Vaudreuil this week.
