Birdies at the 12th and 14th holes lifted former Open Championship winner Paul Lawrie into a share of the lead early in the second round of the KLM Open in The Netherlands.
The 40 year old from Aberdeen, without a European Tour win for seven years and just outside the top 100 on The Race to Dubai, moved to six under par just as rain returned to the Kennemer course.
He was alongside fellow Scot Gary Orr and Ireland's Paul McGinley, both of whom were among the later starters.
Wales’ Jamie Donaldson, Qualifying School winner Oskar Henningsson and England’s 2006 winner Simon Dyson had also played the front nine well in their second round as the group on six under swelled to six.
Lawrie bogeyed the 18th - his ninth - to drop him one behind again before another birdie at the first put him back amongst the leaders.
Another Englishman, Marcus Higley had five back nine birdies to turn in a superb 29 and was only two off the pace.
