Laurie Canter made several changes in his bag, including introducing a new set of Ping irons, ahead of his maiden DP World Tour victory at the European Open.
Despite finishing in a tie for seventh at the Soudal Open days before, the Englishman switched his four iron to pitching wedge from Ping I Blades with KBS Prototype shafts to Ping Blueprint Forged S irons with Nippon Modus 3 shafts.
The move saw immediate gains as he finished top for greens in regulation on his way to the title at Green Eagle Golf Courses.
But the extent of his new equipment didn’t stop there as Canter swapped out a Scotty Cameron Proto T-11 putter to a Scotty Cameron Tour Only T-5S 2024.
Canter often includes a 5 wood in his set-up, but since the start of the European Swing in Belgium he has used the Ping iCrossover 3 iron in the last two DP World Tour events instead.

Speaking earlier in the week after a five-under-par 68 over the Porsche Nord Course, and following a top ten in Belgium the week before, Canter revealed his equipment changes were born out of a desire to improve his approach play.
“I've changed some stuff in my bag this week, which I know people will probably find mad,” he said in a post-round interview.
“As golfers, I think we're always messing about [trying to improve].
"I have been struggling with my distance control. It’s good that my swing obviously feels decent and I was able to put them in and feel comfortable with them pretty quickly.”
