Pressure cookers don’t come much more intense than that of The Ryder Cup, and the ‘Miracle of Medinah’, plus the KLM Open and BMW Italian Open, really did throw up some fantastic moments for you to choose from in theSeptember Shot of the Month competition.

Shot 1– Faced with a slippery right-to-lefter down the slope at 18 on Sunday at the KLM Open, and having been in a tense battle all afternoon with Spain’s Pablo Larrazabal, Peter Hanson stepped up and poured it in the heart for a closing eagle and a tournament winning total.
Shot 2– Having come up short at the par five eighth hole in the third round at Royale Park I Roveri, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano slammed in a tramliner for eagle from some 60 feet, to continue a fine run of putting that eventually saw win by two at the BMW Italian Open presented by CartaSi.
Shot 3– On a tight first day at Medinah, Nicolas Colsaerts fired one of the most superb fourball rounds in Ryder Cup history, the most impressive effort of which came on the daunting par three seventeenth where he drilled home a 25 foot putt for birdie with Tiger Woods in close, securing a half on the hole to maintain a one up advantage that himself and partner Lee Westwood would not relinquish down the last.
Shot 4– With Team Europe under the cosh on a tough second day in Chicago, it was imperative that the final two fourball matches got some blue on the board. First up, and like Colsaerts the day before in answering a pin-point approach from Tiger Woods at 17, Luke Donald floated in a delightful mid-iron down the hill on the par three to within a few feet to secure a half in birdies and maintain Europe’s one up advantage.
Shot 5– With Luke Donald and Sergio Garcia having secured one of two essential afternoon points on Saturday, the duo of Ian Poulter and Rory McIlroy had to deliver more blue, and they did just that. McIlroy got the ball rolling with a birdie at 13, before his partner Poulter reeled off a thrilling five in a row to close, the culmination of which came on 18 when the Englishman drained a pressure packed 12 foot birdie putt to get Europe back within touching distance of Team USA.
Shot 6– Faced with a quick chip from long of the fourth on Sunday, Paul Lawrie proved to the golfing world once again why his nickname on Tour is ‘Chippy’, clipping a beautiful running chip on to the green before watching the ball roll into the hole for an unlikely birdie and the win en route to a 5&3 victory over Brandt Snedeker.
Shot 7– With his match, and the entire contest hanging in the balance, Justin Rose found a putt just when his team needed it the most, sliding a slippery effort down the green at 17 and straight into the heart of the hole to pull all square and lay the foundations for a thrilling closing birdie to beat Phil Mickelson one up down the last.
Shot 8– Faced with a four footer up the hill at 18 for the par four that would retain The Ryder Cup, Martin Kaymer was calmness personified, stepping up and pouring it in to the heart to defeat Steve Stricker by a single hole and get Team Europe to that magical 14 point mark. Cue celebrations.
