The Stadium Course at PGA Catalunya Resort, part of the European Tour Courses portfolio, has hosted many European Tour events and has been regularly ranked as one of the top ten continental European venues by Golf World Magazine. The slightly shorter Tour Course is equally scenic and challenging in its own right. The venue also boasts a new modern and spacious clubhouse, offering excellent food and service, and a stylish Melia hotel, both of which contribute towards the resort’s overall appeal for family and golfing vacations.

The three contenders for the April Shot of the Month feature two shots from Luke Donald during the BMW PGA Championship and one from Ian Poulter in the final of the Volvo World Match Play Championship.

Shot A comes from Luke Donald with the BMW PGA Championship title and World Number One battle coming right down to the wire. Donald trailed Westwood by two strokes with three holes to play but Donald delivered a telling blow on the 16thwhen, moments after Westwood three putted for a bogey, Donald hit an approach of unerring accuracy to within inches of the pin for a tap in birdie to draw level with his rival.  Donald went on to take the title at the first extra-hole of a play-off to become not only the BMW PGA Champion, but also the new World Number One.

Shot B is Luke Donald’s remarkable recovery during the third round of the Tour’s Flagship event at Wentworth Club. His title challenge appeared to be slipping away as he struggled with his driver and began falling down the leaderboard. After carving his tee shot on the 13thinto the trees, another dropped shot looked likely but somehow he found a gap and played a shot of breath-taking audacity to find the back of the green. That shot, reminiscent of the great Seve Ballesteros, turned the tide as he finished the round strongly to put himself back in the frame and ultimate victory.

Shot C came from Ian Poulter in the final of the Volvo World Match Play against Luke Donald. Barely anything separated the two match play specialists, winners of the WGC – Accenture Match Play over the last two years, on the final day until Poulter’s brilliant approach to the 16th. Poulter was one hole to the good at the time but the contest swung firmly his way with a brilliant shot to put him two up with two to play and a hole later Donald’s resistance ended.

The previous winners of the 2011 Shot of the Month competition were Paul Casey (January), Alvaro Quiros (February), David Horsey (March) and Matteo Manassero (April). The winners of the Shot of the Month competition will be put forward to The European Tour Shot of the Year.
