The KPMG Trophy has appeared on the European Challenge Tour International Schedule for the last 12 years and it will return once again, from August 29-September 1.
The Belgium event will take place at Millennium Golf, Paal Beringen, for the first time after being hosted by seven different venues in the previous 13 editions.
In 2018, it was located at L’Empereur Golf & Country Club as Pedro Figueiredo secured his maiden Challenge Tour title with victory in a play-off against Stuart Manley and Anton Karlsson.
The Portuguese opened with a stunning 63 before relinquishing the lead on Days Two and Three – despite posting excellent rounds of 68-67 – but then laid siege to the KPMG Trophy on the final day.
Swede Karlsson looked to be heading for his first Challenge Tour crown after a bogey-free seven under par opening 14 holes, but two bogeys in his final four opened the door for Manley and Figueiredo.
Both men secured two gains in their final four holes to join Karlsson on 22 under par, meaning the trio were forced back to the 18thtee for a play-off.
All three men were presented with birdie putts on the first extra hole and it was the Portuguese who was first to putt, and he duly fired his effort into the back of the cup before seeing Karlsson and Manley slide their efforts past the target.
Designed by Bruno Steensels, Millennium Golf is one of the most challenging layouts in Belgium with the course record belonging to Thomas Pieters, who navigated the course in 61 strokes.
The course spans across 80 hectares of terrain, peppered with oak, beech and rhododendrons, around the banks of the Paalse Plas. Water is strategically placed around the course and forces players to balance risk and reward in the quest for a low score.
