Korea Championship Presented by Genesis - Day two digest

Everything you need to know from Friday's second round at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea.

Home favourite Park and Germany's Paul rose to the top of the leaderboard on day two of the 2023 Korea Championship Presented by Genesis.

Here is everything you need to know from Friday's second round at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea.

Patience the key for Paul

Yannik Paul shot a second successive 68 on Friday to grab a share of the midway lead on eight under par. After making five birdies and one bogey in the morning, the German highlighted the importance of staying patient on the tricky host course. He said: "Yesterday it was a bit windier, but today the pins were really hard. I think they're expecting quite a bit of wind over the weekend so I think they used all the hard pins today. The weather was really good. It was actually warmer than I thought. But yeah, the pins made it hard to get close to. And if you're on the wrong side, you have absolutely no shot. I think you've just got to stay patient and wait for your chances."

Park finishes with a flourish

Park Sanghyun saved his best for last as he birdied the 18th from around 25 feet to join Paul at the summit. The impressive up-and-down completed a 69 which contained four birdies and a single bogey.

Jamieson's awesome approaches

Having followed up five birdies in his first ten holes with a double bogey on the 11th, Scott Jamieson got his round back on track with a series of impressive birdies. He sent his approach shots to within a few feet at the 14th, 15th and 16th to set up a hat-trick of close-range birdies, making good use of the backstops. A closing birdie saw the Scot sign for a 65 - the joint-lowest round of the day - to get within two shots of the lead.

Meronk makes marvellous par save

Adrian Meronk found himself in a bunker after two shots at the par-four second and he was faced with an absolutely terrible lie. But he managed to get it up and down for a tremendous par save.

Tale of two rounds

Li Haotong looked to be going home early after posting an opening 78 on Thursday. But he battled back in style on day two, firing seven birdies and one bogey in a 66 to finish just above the cut line.

Family affair for Ding

Talented amateur Ding Wenyi has his father on the bag this week - and he was the first to celebrate when his son rolled in a putt. We are set to see more celebrations from the caddie over the weekend after the Chinese 18-year-old shot a 69 on Friday to get to three under par after two rounds.
