Koepka edges towards Scottish victory and Tour promotion

Brooks Koepka was steaming towards a third Challenge Tour title and automatic promotion to The European Tour as he carded a four under par front nine 31 to take a four shot lead midway through a rain-delayed opening day.

The American, who has been spoken of in the most glowing terms by many of his contemporaries, was one shot off the lead going into the final day after a course record-equalling nine under par 62 on the third day.

Playing in the final group, Koepka opened with a birdie at the first before three more birdies in the next five holes took him to 19 under, and a par on the tenth hole meant he was four under par through ten holes.

Koepka would become the sixth player in Challenge Tour history to earn promotion to The European Tour via three victories, after Taco Remkes, Edoardo Molinari, Benjamin Hebert, Sam Little and Kristoffer Broberg.

Sam Walker, the defending champion, was one of the three players hoping to catch Koepka and four shots behind on 15 under par, alongside former Challenge Tour Number Two Andrea Pavan and former US Amateur Champion Byeong-hun An.
