Kjeldsen happy to be back

Søren Kjeldsen was thrilled to be back at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational after a lengthy absence from the event.

The 40 year old booked his place in the tournament when he beat England's Eddie Pepperell and Austria's Bernd Wiesberger in a play-off to win the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Hosted by the Rory Foundation in May.

And the Dane made a solid start at Firestone Country Club on Thursday, firing a one under par 69 which included four birdies and three bogeys.

Kjeldsen's only other appearance at the event came in 2009 when he finished in a share of 68th place, and he is delighted to make his return.
He said: "I am super excited (to be back).

"After turning 40, and not playing (at WGC events) for a few years, you wonder if that was it, whether you are going to make it back to this form.
"So far it has been brilliant, and I am just enjoying it."

Kjeldsen was ranked 303rd in the world before winning at Royal County Down earlier in the year, and now that he is 79th, he is setting his sights on a return to the top 50.

"I have been there before, and I want to go there again," he said.

"I have always said, if I do not play my best golf between 40 and 50, then I do not use my experience for anything.

"That is my plan, and I am going to stick to that."
