Søren Kjeldsen is hopeful a more relaxed attitude can help him to a home victory at this week's Made In Denmark.
The event has made a big impact since its debut in 2014 and Kjeldsen has an excellent record at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort having finished 15th, second and eighth as an ever-present competitor.
With huge, enthusiastic crowds making their way to Farsø, the home players have immense support but with that comes increased pressure, something Kjeldsen feels may have held him back in previous seasons.
The four-time European Tour winner admits he is feeling more laid back this campaign and is hopeful that will bring a home win that would be one of the most popular of 2017.
"Everything is different," he said. "It's special for me because it's sort of my area, I have a lot in common with people from this area. For me it really is like coming home.
"It's a double-edged sword. This year I probably felt a little more relaxed coming into the tournament but the last three years every time has been a little bit of a nightmare coming into it because I really desperately want to play well.
For some reason I feel a little more calm. In that respect it's been a little bit like going to some of the Majors desperate to play well - Søren Kjeldsen
"I still do this year but for some reason I feel a little more calm. In that respect it's been a little bit like going to some of the Majors desperate to play well. I try to treat it as a normal tournament but I feel the difference.
"The thing that has surprised me the most is the amount of support we get. You don't feel that week in, week out and that has been a big thing for me because you don't know how many people follow it and to feel that support has been quite overwhelming. It's been really nice and I suppose that's why once you feel that you even more so want to play well."
In 2015 Kjeldsen arrived here for his 501st European Tour event and was treated to an emotional welcome on the signature par three 16th, with fans holding up banners as he walked up Himmerland Hill to signify his milestone from the US PGA Championship the previous week.
This week countryman Thomas Bjørn will make it 500 appearances on home soil and Kjeldsen is delighted for the Ryder Cup Captain, with some of the other players eager to remind Bjørn who got there first.
"I'm very pleased that it's at this tournament," said Kjeldsen. "What Thomas did in the mid-90s there, it gave a lot of people - including myself - an idea that it was possible. We owe him a lot and we've been inspired and motivated by him a lot and for him to be Captain now, I think everybody is very happy for him.
"I met Fozzy (Mark Foster) and he said: 'Oh the Great Dane, he's already played 500', apparently he said that to Thomas!"
Thorbjørn Olesen is the highest-ranked of the home favourites in the field this week and having led the US PGA Championship after the first round two weeks ago, he arrives full of confidence.
"My game is in good shape so I am really looking forward to this week," he said. "It feels like I am very close to winning again and I think I have to have the mindset that I am here to win this week.
"I played well at the PGA and was obviously leading after the first round which was an experience that I learned a lot from. I actually cracked my driver on the weekend and didn't have a back up with me so I kind of struggled off the tee over the weekend and as you saw from that golf course, you really had to be driving the ball well to have any chance of contending.
"But, as I said, I learned a lot from the experience of leading a Major and feel I can take a lot of positives out of that for the rest of the season. I feel like I can win again soon."
