Søren Kjeldsen maintained a two shot lead over David Drysdale as the duo prepared to battle for the Open de Andalucia de Golf 09 on the back nine at Real Club de Golf de Sevilla.
Denmark’s Kjeldsen - looking for a third win on The European Tour - moved to 15 under at the turn, two clear of Scot Drysdale and four clear of Drysdale’s compatriot Alastair Forsyth..
Drysdale has never won on Tour and his best finish remains second place at the 2006 Imperial Collection Russian Open, and it looked like the pressure of being in the final group would tell when he bogeyed the first to fall three behind.
But he responded with a back-to-back birdies at the 436 yard fourth and the par five fifth to close the gap.
However he bogeyed the next two before a birdie at the ninth gave him a boost ahead of the closing stretch.
The rest of the field were struggling to catch the leading duo in Seville, with Wales’ Rhys Davies three under through 11 for the day one of the biggest movers - climbing to a tie for fourth on nine under.
Alastair Forsyth remained in third place on 11 under, a birdie at nine keeping him in the hunt for a third European Tour title.
