Kim Yeongsu is hoping to find more success on a happy hunting ground as he tees it up on home oil this week at the Korea Championship Presented by Genesis.
This week's event in Incheon - the Tour's first trip to Korea in a decade - is Kim’s fourth start of the season after playing in South Africa and Japan, and next week he will head to the DS Automobiles Italian Open to make his debut on European soil.
The 33-year-old lifted a trophy at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea just six months ago at the Genesis Championship, a victory that helped him top the Korea Professional Golfers' Association's Genesis Point Ranking to earn his DP World Tour card for 2023.
And while Kim is excited to be playing all over the world on the DP World Tour, he is keeping his focus on home glories this week.
"It feels good to be back at a course where I won the 2022 Genesis Championship," he said.
"The course plays quite difficult and there is stiff competition every year, but I enjoy the setting and the challenge.
"As for my plans for this year, I will play as many DP World Tour events as possible, and I hope to compete to win, learn and achieve good results.
"I don’t think I can take part in any Rolex Series events in my category. I just hope to do well this week because it would be nice to do that before heading to Europe.
"I obviously want to do better in Korea but at the end of the day this is golf, and one of many events I will continue to play so this week it’s the same routine, same mindset."
This week's venue will be a new challenge for many of the field and Kim believes the closing stretch will play a vital role come Sunday.
"I think all the holes on this course play with some level of difficulty but the last three holes are the most important," he said. "Not necessarily to lower your score but rather to maintain your score.
"This course is also very windy so controlling trajectory, course management and especially saving shots around the green are important."
